Preserving the History of Alice, Colorado
The town of Alice, Colo. in Clear Creek County began as a mining settlement, then a ski resort, and is now a vacation house community. Specifically, the historic schoolhouse in the town was the center of my Gold Award. The Alice Historical Society needed a way to protect the paper files stored there, as well as a way to promote the schoolhouse to the world. I provided this through a website (alicehistoricalsociety.org) I built for them. Now they have an online presence and a way to permanently store the paper files. They also can store tangible artifacts in a display case that I built for them. The most challenging aspect of my project was teaching myself about the website-building program Dreamweaver.
