The Journey tip this week applies to all age levels. There are some great online resources out there to help enhance your in-person Journey activities and themes.
(Don’t forget to teach girls about online safety, and have them take the Girl Scouts Online Safety Pledge: http://www.girlscouts.org/help/internet_safety_pledge.asp)
We’ve come up with some great activities in each adult Journey guide – and incorporated girl-led/learning by doing/cooperative learning right into the activities – but you can always find more great program ideas by searching the internet (maybe even on other Girl Scout websites). A little time spent online and you can find great resources to customize and enhance your experience. Here are some suggestions:
ZisBoomBah.com is a partner with Girl Scouts of Colorado to help girls with living a healthy lifestyle. It’s the perfect way for troop leaders to keep girls engaged in living healthy outside of troop meetings. Activities on ZisBoomBah are alignged with the “It’s Your Planet – Love It” Journey activities for Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors. Sign up today: http://blog.zisboombah.com/girl-scouts
Be the Director is a great online microsite developed by GSUSA. It’s a great tie in for the MEdia Journey, but girls working on any Journey will have fun at this site!http://bethedirector.girlscouts.org/
Girls Speak Out is a website developed by GSUSA to help girls tell their stories through public service announcements. Regardless of which Journey you are working on, this site allows you to share your ideas – how you’re taking action – with other Girl Scouts across the country or just see what others are doing: http://speakout.girlscouts.org/
Get inspired on your Journey by seeing what amazing things women, including past Girl Scouts, have done: http://studio.girlscouts.org/ and http://inspire.girlscouts.org/
