Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO) is getting excited for the 2013 summer camp season!
Over the last few years, Girl Scout troop camping with staff-led programming has been one of our fastest growing camping segments, yet most opportunities have been outside of the summer camp season. For the summer of 2013 we are offering new summer camp programs to give our troops what they crave – a full group overnight summer camp experience with everything taken care of. You just bring your troop and have fun with them!
Girl Scouts of Colorado has nine camp properties across the state. While all these properties run camping programs year-round, here is a run down of what each property will offer for the summer of 2013:
Hamp Hut, Kiwa Korral, Lazy Acres, Pawnee Lodge and Twisted Pine
Offer a combination of troop camp, day camp and other group use.
Magic Sky Ranch
Magic Sky Ranch will focus on staff-led overnight camp for individual girls with a limited off-property horse program. Archery, high and low ropes, challenge and team building activities and activity center fun continues as just some of the available programs.
Meadow Mountain Ranch
Meadow Mountain Ranch will focus on staff-led high adventure overnight camp for individual older girls as well as “choose your own adventure” troop programming throughout the summer with a strengthened intensive horse program.
Sky High Ranch
Sky High Ranch will focus on staff-led overnight Girl Scout troop and group camp (a new offering for Girl Scouts of Colorado!) with horses, zipline, low ropes, archery, petting zoo, digglers swimming and canoeing.
Tomahawk Ranch
Tomahawk will focus on staff-led overnight camp for individual girls with horses, farm animals and archery.
Other summer camp and property news
- Girl Scouts of Colorado will also offer more troop camp, family camp and day use opportunities throughout the summer, much of which will be at Sky High Ranch. Participation in these programs is on the rise, and we want to offer more of the experiences that our members crave.
- All GSCO properties are now open for use by our members and families as well as other groups and organizations. If there is not an existing Girl Scout camp in session or reservation, properties will be available for other rental use. Our properties can accommodate family reunions, trainings, outdoor education, retreats, weddings and more. We hope that our members will take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy our wonderful properties. For more information, visit our website.
- Watch for more details about all of GSCO’s summer camp opportunities in the Summer Program Guide, coming out in February 2013. Send additional questions to inquiry@gscolorado.org, or read our frequently asked questions on our website.
We look forward to having you camp with us in the summer of 2013!
